Manufacturer Product Description
Manufacturer Product Description How easy is this? Just select what you want to do with your original – scan, copy, or create email attachments or PDFs – and the entire process is automated. The new Auto Scan Mode detects your type of original, then scans and saves it with the optimal settings. Your results will be outstanding, with color dpi resolution up to 4800 x 4800, and you can also create fabulous 19600 x 19600 software-enhanced (extrapolated) scans. Plus, a letter-sized color scan takes only about 14 seconds.

CanoScan LiDE 200 Color Image Scanner:

  • Auto Scan Mode automatically recognizes the type of original.
  • To reduce the number of wires in your work area, one simple cable provides power and a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed connection.

MX700 Product Tour

How simple is this? Just press a button to select what you want to do with your original — copy it, scan and save it, produce a PDF, or create an email. View larger
The Advanced Z-Lid lets you produce clear, complete scans of thick originals such as notebooks. Built-in FARE™ 3.0 retouching technology helps to enhance your final images, even correcting for dust, scratches and backlighting on photos. And to reduce "cable clutter", one simple cable provides power and a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed connection.

Done in 14 Seconds
Now, scanning is faster than ever. In about 14 seconds, you can scan a letter-size color original such as an article, or a page from your notebook or textbook.

Shadow-Free Scans
Typically, when you scan a page from a book, the shadow from the book’s inside "gutter" shows up on the scan. No more. Gutter Shadow Correction eliminates that shadow, providing a clean scan of just the page — and not the gutter.

4 EZ Buttons
How simple is this? Just press a button to select what you want to do with your original — copy it (sending a scanned image to your printer), scan and save it, produce a PDF, or create an email

Smart Scanning
Whether you’re scanning a photo, document, business card, textbook or personal notebook, the new Auto Scan Mode automatically recognizes the type of original, crops it to proper size and then scans and saves your file in the appropriate format. Perform this and more with the press of a single button.

Just One Wire
To reduce the number of wires in your work area, one simple cable provides power and a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed connection.

5 out of 5 stars Well Worth it!   December 22, 2008

I have used this for a few months now, I had family photo's from the 1940's to date, thousands of photo's to place on a disk. This scanner worked so quickly and quietly I was extremely pleased to leave this review. The quality of the scans, went far beyond my expectations, and the software was adequate for most photos that need retouched.
I've gone through thick yearbooks, newspaper clippings, and shiny magazines and consistently was impressed with the quality of each photo. I've used the scan for 3,200 plus photo's to date and I still have three large stacks of various size photo's to go. If I run into a glich in the future I'll update this review, if not then this continues to be one hell of a first rate scanner.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Scanner for the Price   November 23, 2008

I bought this scanner because I had purchased digital frames for all my kids, and I wanted to go through our family photos and load the best of them into the frames. When I priced the cost of having someone else do the scanning, I discovered that stores wanted at least a dollar a scan. Since I was going to have at least one hundred photos, I decided that buying my own scanner was the way to go.

This scanner was up and running in about ten minutes. First, load the software, then connect the scanner. The software opens, and you are off and running. Second, the software allows you to make quick scans, or you can open the driver and make all sorts of adjustments. Third, I especially appreciated the adjustments that the software will make for faded prints and covering dust and scratches.

In addition, if your photos are relatively small, the software will detect and crop more than one photo on the patten. In addition, if you have photos mounted in albums (and were stupid enough to make them unremovable, the cover will accommodate thick objects, so all is not lost.

Finally, the fact that the scanner gets all its power from the USB port saves having to find and outlet for yet one more power cord; also, it's really quiet.

I have realized that it may solve magazine pack-rat problem too. Now we can scan in the articles we want to save (and someday read in the next century) so we can ditch the piles of magazines.

5 out of 5 stars Needed something to scan a lot of pictures works great!   May 10, 2009

I don't usually write reviews but since I read them to help make a purchase thought I should help others in my situation. I have limited computer knowledge and wanted to make my son a video for high school graduation. My copier/scanner/printer took forever (the process took more than 1 min per photo) to scan just one photo - so I needed something that could scan many photos and fast. I decided on this model and it works great. I needed to get about 13 years worth of photos scanned for him (pre digital). This scanner works great. You can put several pictures on at once and it recognizes them individually! Got everything I needed scanned in just a couple of hours and have now started on the video. Without this scanner don't think I could have accomplished this. I realize this is not a "technical" review, but for someone who wants an easy to use (I had no problems setting up - just a few minutes) scanner to get the pictures on your computer (and the picture quality is good) I would highly recommend!

5 out of 5 stars Works beautifully and quick set-up   September 5, 2008

Love this scanner. Had it unboxed and set up on my iMac in 5 minutes. Easy button access for email or copying works great. You definately get great value for the dollar, and the fact that it doesn't need AC power makes it even better.

5 out of 5 stars Great Travel Scanner   February 13, 2009

I've had this scanner since December and have been very pleased with it. I not only use it at home but also, because it is lightweight and very thin, take it on trips. It has no A/C adapter, just uses a USB port for power. When combined with my HP H470 mobile printer and my little 8.9" Asus notebook I have a complete mobile office on the road. It scans directly into pdf and you can easily set the scan resolution so that small pdf files can be created when needed for emailing purposes. I usually scan in color as it provides additional authenticity and even these pdf files fit easily into the email size constraints set by my email provider. I now no longer have to rely on the questionable security and usually poorly maintained business center at my hotel, nor standing in line at a busy Kinkos to get my work done.
